Portland Timbers U-23s 2010 Tryout Information

The Portland Timbers U-23s, the development team for the Portland Timbers, is in the process of finding new talent for the upcoming Premier Development League season. This season’s tryout will take place on March 27th at Gresham High School. The cost to participate is $65. Training will commence at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 5:00 p.m. Players must be at the field promptly at 8:00 a.m. for check in. The tryout will consist of two training sessions broken up by a lunch break at 12 Noon.
 
The tryout is open to players 17 years of age and older, however, players under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian present at the field at all times. While the team name implies that you must be under the age of 23, league rules state each team may have a maximum of eight over-age players.
 
To sign up for the Timbers U-23s tryout, complete the application and waiver form (see link below). These forms must be completed in their entirety along with the $65 registration fee.

Players MUST provide their own equipment, including appropriate shoes (turf, jogging, cleats, etc.), shin guards and other soccer apparel. Each player must bring/wear a white t-shirt or black sweat top to all trial activities. The Timbers will provide water, a team athletic trainer and lunch.
 
All traveling players must secure their own travel arrangements, travel documents and local transportation for the tryout.

ABOUT PORTLAND TIMBERS U-23s:
Introduced in November 2008, the Portland Timbers U-23s is the official development team of the Portland Timbers soccer club. The Timbers U-23s compete in the United Soccer Leagues’ Premier Development League (PDL), and played its inaugural season in 2009. The PDL is North America’s top amateur league for players 23 years of age and younger and serves as a ground for elite and up-and-coming players. League rules allow a maximum of 8 over-age players. The Timbers organization also fields a first team, which enters its 10th season as part of the United Soccer Leagues in 2010.
 
The Timbers U-23s are members of the PDL’s Northwest Division of the Western Conference. The team will play a 16-match, regular season schedule, which runs from May 15th through July 18th.
