Biography:
George Josten returns to the Northwest to join the Portland Timbers for his second professional season.

2008: Was a member of Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew, which captured the 2008 MLS Cup. Selected 20th overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, he tallied one goal and two assists in 11 MLS Reserve Division matches as a rookie. Josten did not make a regular-season appearance with the first team.

College: Played in 79 matches during his collegiate career at Gonzaga University, where he ranks among the school's all-time leaders in scoring with 34 goals and 17 assists. He led the West Coast Conference in scoring in 2005 and 2006, notching 12 goals each season. He earned several accolade during his time at Gonzaga, including three All-WCC first-team selections (2005-07), named to the All-WCC Freshman Team (2004), was a three-time ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American (2005-07) and received the NSCAA/adidas Men's Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Josten also became the first Gonzaga player to be named an NSCAA/adidas All-American, when he was selected to the third team in 2007 and was also the first Bulldog to be named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List heading into his senior year in 2007. The  Hermann Trophy is awarded to the nation's top men's collegiate soccer player.
