PORTLAND, Ore. – On Tuesday at JELD-WEN Field, when Scottish striker Kris Boyd was introduced as the newest member of the Portland Timbers, there was one word on everybody’s lips: goals.

The Portland Timbers welcomed new forward and Designated Player Kris Boyd at an introductory press conference at JELD-WEN Field on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 9:00 a.m. PT.

PORTLAND, Ore. – When the Portland Timbers left for their 10-day preseason training camp in Southern California, it seemed clear they had something special in trialist Franck Songo’o.

And on their first day back at a soggy JELD-WEN Field on Friday, the Timbers now know Songo’o will be a part of their 2012 campaign.

Timbers fans might recall the effortlessly soulful sound of local teenager Madison Shanley from several matches during the 2011 Major League Soccer season.

Madison, a 17-year-old Wilson High School senior, sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” four times in front of the JELD-WEN Field faithful last year--three for Timbers matches and one for the U.S. Womens' match--before recently testing out her vocal chords for, arguably, the most popular reality talent competition on television, American Idol.

The Timbers ODP staff is happy to announce today that Miguel Martin has been invited to train with the U15 United States national team at the Home Depot Center, March 3-10. Miguel is a goalkeeper on the Timbers 1997 pre-academy ODP team and was identified for Oregon ODP two years ago in the ODP Bend Regional Training Center. Miguel is a two-time ODP Regional Pool player with an invite to National Camp two years ago as well. The U15 US national team is made up of the top youth players in the United States in the U15 age group.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers U-23s open their fourth Premier Development League (PDL) season on Friday, May 11, as they play host to the Fraser Valley Mariners at JELD-WEN Field, it was announced today as United Soccer Leagues unveiled the 2012 PDL regular-season schedule.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers have signed Cameroonian midfielder Franck Songo’o, it was announced today. Songo’o joins the Timbers after playing the past six seasons in the top leagues in England and Spain. Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson made the announcement.
