PORTLAND, Ore. - Midfielder Andrew Gregor scored two goals and midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer added another to lead the Timbers to a 3-1 season-opening victory over the Puerto Rico Islanders in front of 7,805 at PGE Park. Puerto Rico pulled one back in the 83rd minute on a goal by Alberto Zapata. Gregor had a chance to tally two more goals against the Islanders on penalty kick attempts, but one was saved and the other hit the crossbar.

SEATTLE, Wash. – Forward Nathan Knox capitalized on a loose ball in front of the net as the Seattle Sounders defeated the Portland Timbers 1-0 at Qwest Field. The Timbers were limited to just five shots as they suffered their first loss of the season. Seattle tallied the game’s lone goal in the 20th minute on a cross into the box by midfielder Josh Gardner which trickled through the box to Knox.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Bryan Jordan’s goal in the 46th minute gave the Portland Timbers a 1-0 victory over Club Necaxa Elite in an international exhibition game in front of 7,761 at PGE Park. Jordan’s 40-yard run up the field early in the second half set up his first professional goal – a shot from the top of the box inside the far post. Portland goalkeeper Josh Wicks spoiled perhaps Necaxa’s best scoring chance, as he stopped a three-on-one counterattack at the top of the area.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Rookie forward Bryan Jordan sparked a late two-goal rally as the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders battled to a 2-2 draw before 5,722 fans at PGE Park. Jordan trimmed Seattle’s lead with his first USL First Division goal and then set up the equalizing penalty kick when he was fouled in the box. The Sounders gained a 2-0 advantage on goals by forwards Sebastien Le Toux and Roger Levesque in the 8th and 77th minutes.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland midfielder Andrew Gregor assembled a three-point performance in a 2-0 win over the Rochester Raging Rhinos at PGE Park. Gregor scored in the 24th minute and then set up a 32-yard shot by defender Leonard Griffin past Rochester goalkeeper Chase Harrison. The Timbers’ 2-0 win is their first victory and shutout over Rochester since Portland joined the United Soccer Leagues in 2001.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers continued their streak of shutout play as they battled the expansion Carolina RailHawks to a 0-0 draw at PGE Park. Portland could not capitalize on a one-man advantage for a span of 51 minutes as Carolina’s Jonny Steel was ejected from the match in the 39th minute. Prior to kickoff, the Timbers achieved a modern-franchise milestone as the 500,000th fan attended a regular-season match at PGE Park since the club joined United Soccer Leagues in 2001.

MONTREAL, Que. – Midfielder Andrew Gregor delivered on a late penalty kick as the Portland Timbers claimed a 1-0 victory against the Montreal Impact at the Claude Robillard Sports Complex. With their fourth consecutive shutout, goalkeeper Josh Wicks and the Timbers backline set a new modern-franchise record having logged 378 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. The previous record of 362 minutes was set in 2004. Forward Bryan Jordan set up the Timbers scoring opportunity in the 75th minute after he was fouled in the box.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Former Timbers midfielder Aaron Lines scored a goal and tallied an assist as the Rochester Raging Rhinos defeated the Portland Timbers 2-1 at PAETEC Park. The loss ended the Timbers’ record-setting string of four consecutive shutouts. Lines scored Rochester’s first goal of the night in the 4th minute and then fed forward Matthew Delicate on a breakaway score. Timbers defender Leonard Griffin pulled one back before halftime on a 22-yard shot in the 41st minute.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Early goals from midfielder Lawrence Olum and forward Luc Harrington led the Portland Timbers to a 2-0 win over the Bakersfield Brigade of the Premier Development League in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup. Olum cashed in on a Luke Kreamalmeyer corner kick while Harrington finished a pinpointed cross from Kiki Lara. Portland goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin recorded a shutout victory in his 2007 debut.

PORTLAND, Ore. – In an international exhibition match at PGE Park, the Portland Timbers defeated AC Milan Primavera 4-1 on penalties after playing to a 1-1 draw through regulation. AC Milan Primavera is the U-21 squad for Italian superpower AC Milan. Midfielder Tom Taylor scored in the 24th minute to give Portland a 1-0 lead through halftime. Timbers midfielder Andrew Gregor was sent off in the second half helping AC Milan Primavera’s Enrico Traviani net the equalizer in the 66th minute with a one-man advantage. Tied at 1-1 upon the conclusion of regulation, the match was decided in penalty kicks with Portland scoring on all four attempts. The 11,092 fans on hand for the exhibition match was one of the largest crowds in modern franchise history.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Midfielder Neil Dombrowski gave the Timbers a late 1-0 lead, but the Montreal Impact answered back less than a minute later as the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw before 5,266 fans at PGE Park. Dombrowski netted his first professional goal in the 85th minute on a pass from midfielder David Hague. Moments later, the Impact’s Allen Marcina knocked in the equalizer on a pass from the top of the arch by midfielder Ze Roberto.

Tukwila, Wash. – The Seattle Sounders scored two goals with a one-man advantage to record a 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup at the Starfire Sports Complex. Portland defender Cameron Knowles was sent off in the 41st minute after he was called for a foul in the box
on a corner kick play. Defender Justin Thompson gave the Timber a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, but Knowles foul in the 41st minute set up the game-tying PK by midfielder Hugo Alcarez-Cuellar. Defender Jake Besagno headed home the game winner for Seattle late in the second half.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Forward David Hague scored in the 89th minute as the Portland Timbers upended the California Victory 1-0 at Kezar Stadium. Timbers goalkeeper Josh Wicks, who picked up his fifth shutout of the season, found Hague running down the left side of the box with a long pass to earn the assist. Hague needed just two touches before he slotted home his first professional goal.

Midfielder Andrew Gregor set up game-winning goal with a 65-yard free kick which allowed Olum to attack the ball inside the box and head it home. Portland goalkeeper Josh Wicks earned his sixth shutout of the season to tie the Timbers modern-franchise record for shutouts in a single season first set in 2001 by Matt Napoleon and last done by Josh Saunders in 2005.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Forward Bryan Jordan scored his fourth goal of the season as the Portland Timbers defeated the California Victory 1-0 in front of 6,332 at PGE Park. In the win, Jordan scored the match’s lone goal in the 53rd minute on a well-placed pass from defender Scot Thompson. Moving the ball up the right side of the field, Thompson found Jordan racing through the box. Meeting up with the ball about 12 yards out, Jordan buried the ball inside the far post.

PORTLAND, Ore. – A hat trick by forward David Hague boosted the Timbers to a 4-1 win over the California Victory at PGE Park. Portland’s defense contributed on the offensive side of the field as defender Cameron Knowles tallied a goal and an assist and goalkeeper Josh Wicks earned an assist. Hague entered the match in the 67th minute and scored three goals in a 20-minute span - taking advantage of one-man advantage as California's Ricardo Sanchez was ejected in the 54th minute. The Timbers set a new modern-franchise record for consecutive minutes played without allowing a goal, 388.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Midfielder Lawrence Olum headed in the game-winning goal as the Portland Timbers defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 in front of 7,123 at PGE Park. After midfielder Martin Nash gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, Portland's Andrew Gregor leveled the score with a hard-fought goal in the 29th. Olum tapped in the eventual game winner on a ball played through the box by defender Leonard Griffin. The Timbers win over Vancovuer is their first in the last 11 meetings between the two clubs.

ATLANTA – A late goal by forward Chris Bagley helped the Timbers capture a 1-0 road win over the Atlanta Silverbacks at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium, and extended the team’s winning streak to a record-setting seven matches. The new record breaks the previous mark set in 2004 when the Timbers opened the season with six straight victories. Backup goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin stepped in to preserve the shutout as starter Josh Wicks went down with a knee injury before halftime.

Former Timbers forward Byron Alvarez and midfielder Luke Vercollone scored for the Battery. Timbers forward Bryan Jordan, who entered the match as a substitute in the second half, received two cautions in 20 minute and was sent off in the 66th minute.

Forward Matt Taylor, who was signed by the Timbers earlier in the week, made his debut and took four shots, one of which hit the crossbar in the 9th minute.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Forward Matt Taylor scored two second-half goals as the Portland Timbers defeated England's Preston North End 2-1 in a special exhibition match in front of 8,238 at PGE Park. Down 1-0 at halftime, Portland forward Matt Taylor scored the equalizer in the 50th minute on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Tied at 1-1 during second-half stoppage time, Portland’s David Hague was fouled in the box to set up Taylor’s game-winning penalty kick. Preston North End forward Brett Ormerod scored the English side’s lone goal in the 12th minute. At the hand of the Timbers, Preston North End suffered its third loss while on its preseason U.S. tour.

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Portland Timbers suffered a 2-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders at Qwest Field. Midfielder Josh Gardner and forward Sebastian Le Toux each notched goals for Seattle. With the loss, the Timbers ended their 2007 season series against their Northwest rivals with a record of 0-2-1 and marked the first season since 2001 that the Timbers have not recorded at least one win during the season against Seattle.

ST. PAUL, MN – Midfielder Lawrence Olum found the back of the net in the second half to help the Portland Timbers earn a 1-1 draw against the Minnesota Thunder at James Griffin Stadium. Minnesota’s Darren Spicer broke the stalemate in the opening minute of the second half with a run down the right side before firing a shot from 12 yards out. . Olum entered the match in the 60th minute and headed home a corner kick by midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer three minutes later to tie the match at 1-1.

Then down 2-1, Taylor set up forward Jaime Ambriz in the 87th minute for his first goal of the season inside the six-yard box.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Defender Justin Thompson scored the game’s lone goal in front of a record-setting crowd of 15,833 to give the Portland Timbers a 1-0 win over the Charleston Battery in the 2007 regular-season home finale at PGE Park. Off of a deflected shot, Thompson arched his shot over Charleston goalkeeper Dusty Hudoc and inside the far post in the 79th minute. With the win, the Timbers became just the third team in the USL First Division since 2000 to record an unbeaten record (8-0-6) at home during the regular season.

MIAMI– Midfielder Andrew Gregor logged a goal and an assist as the Portland Timbers defeated Miami FC 2-1 at Tropical Park in Miami. Midfielder Shaun Higgins set up the Timbers first goal of the night as he was tripped up in the box, and Gregor converted the penalty kick. After Miami tied the match at 1-1, defender Scot Thompson redirected a Gregor corner kick in the 73rd minute for a 2-1 Timbers victory.

CARY, N.C. – An 80th-minute goal by forward Bryan Jordan lifted the Timbers to a 1-0 road victory over the Carolina RailHawks at SAS Soccer Park. Portland goalkeeper Josh Wicks recorded his 13th shutout of the season, making five of his six saves on the night in the second half. Midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer set up the game-winning goal with a sharp cross to Jordan running at the near post. Jordan was able to get a touch on the ball and redirect it towards the far corner for a 1-0 lead.

BURNABY, B.C. – The Portland Timbers ended the 2007 regular season with a 0-0 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Swangard Stadium. As a result, the Timbers finished the season in second place in the USL First Division, and became the first team in USL First Division history to record a turnaround season going from last place to a top-two finish the following season. Portland goalkeeper Josh Wicks recorded a season-high 10 saves and defender Cameron Knowles became the ninth player in Timbers modern-franchise history to play in all 28 matches in a season.

BURNABY, B.C. – The Portland Timbers opened the first round of the 2007 playoffs with a 1-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps at Swangard Stadium on a late second-half goal by forward Jason Jordan. In the 76th minute, a cross into the box by midfielder Tony Donatelli hit Portland defender Scot Thompson and trickled towards the near goalpost. Jordan came racing through the box and got the final touch on the ball to earn credit for his second goal of the season.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers eliminated the defending-champion Vancouver Whitecaps from the playoffs with a 3-0 win in the final leg of the first round. Defender Justin Thompson recorded a goal and an assist in front of 8,522 at PGE Park. Thompson's goal in the 27th minute gave Portland a 1-0 lead. Midfielder Andrew Gregor scored the series clincher and added to the Timbers lead with a tricky shot past Vancouver goalkeeper Matt Nelson. Then, late in the match, forward Jaime Ambriz tacked on another goal for the 3-0 win. With the series win, the Timbers moved on to the USL First Division semifinals for the first time in modern-franchise history.

ATLANTA – Forward Bryan Jordan netted the equalizer early in the second half as the Portland Timbers battled the Atlanta Silverbacks to a 1-1 draw in the opening game of their USL First Division semifinal series at Re/Max Greater Atlanta Stadium.
In the 43rd minute, forward Warren Ukah finished a sly pass along the end line from teammate Machel Millwood for a 1-0 Atlanta lead. Jordan pulled the Timbers even in the 49th minute, finishing a one-on-one opportunity past Atlanta goalkeeper Ryan McIntosh. Goalkeeper Josh Wicks matched a season-high with 10 saves against the Silverbacks.

PORTLAND, Ore. – After battling the Atlanta Silverbacks to a 0-0 draw through regulation and series overtime, the Portland Timbers were eliminated from the playoffs on penalties (3-1) at PGE Park. Portland controlled the run of play throughout the entire match, outshooting Atlanta 22-10 and had several chances hit the framework. With a 0-0 score at the end of regulation, the series moved on to overtime. After 30 minutes of overtime, the series remained tied at 1-1 advancing to penalty kicks. Defender Leonard Griffin was the only Timbers player to convert their attempt as the Silverbacks three of their first four kicks to advance to the USL First Division finals.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Forward Bryan Jordan scored two first-half goals, and midfielder Miguel Guante added a goal and an assist to lead the Portland Timbers to a 4-1 exhibition win over Major League Soccer's Toronto FC in front of 6,614 at PGE Park. Portland’s line up featured three invited players including Guante (Miami FC), midfielder Kenji Treschuk (Seattle Sounders), and forward Roger Levesque (Seattle Sounders). Portland built a 3-1 lead in the first half, before second-half substitute Lawrence Olum scored the Timbers final goal of the night in the 77th minute. The Timbers win over Toronto completed a clean sweep of exhibition opponents in 2007.
