September 5, 2004 Sounders 2, Timbers 0 SEATTLE - Heading north for the second leg, the Timbers could not find the net and the Sounders took advantage, winning 2-0 in overtime to advance to the Western Conference Finals. Welton Melo evened the series at 2-2 in just the fifth minute of play, take a cross from Billy Sleeth that would send the match into a ‘series overtime’. Melo tacked on his second goal of the evening in the 10th minute of extra time on a feed from Darren Sawatzsky, ending the Timbers’ season for 2004. |
