Darlington Nagbe

The 2010 Hermann Trophy winner, Nagbe was selected No. 2 overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the Timbers. A member of MLS’s Generation adidas, Nagbe appeared in 28 matches during his rookie season in Portland. A standout at the University of Akron, he led the Zips to the NCAA national championship as a junior in 2010.

Scored his first goal of the season, a game-tying strike, in a 1-1 draw at FC Dallas on March 17, becoming just the third Timbers MLS player to score as a substitute ... Notched the first multiple-goal performance in a 3-2 loss to Real Salt Lake March 31 at JELD-WEN Field ... His second goal against RSL in the 65th minute was a finalist (top four) for the 2012 MLS AT&T Goal of the Year ... Won MLS Goal of the Week for Week 4 ... Scored his first professional goal July 2 against Sporting Kansas City, driving a shot into the top left corner after juggling twice off a deflected free kick ... His first career strike was voted the 2011 AT&T MLS Goal of the Year at season’s end, won MLSsoccer.com Goal of the Week honors (Week 16), was named one of the Top Plays on ESPN’s SportsCenter that night and within days surpassed one million views on YouTube.com ...
