After two standout seasons at the University of Connecti­cut, Jean-Baptiste joined the Timbers as the first-round Su­perDraft pick (eighth overall) of the team on Jan. 12, 2012.

2012: Played in the last two MLS Reserve League matches for the Timbers (April 7, April 22) ... Started and played 90 minutes on April 7 against Chivas USA ... Made his second career start on March 31 againt Real Salt Lake ... Appeared for 66 minutes as a substitute on March 24 against New England coming on after Hanyer Mosquera sustained an injury in the 24th minute ... Made his professional debut and scored his first professional goal in the Timbers’ 3-1 win over Philadelphia March 12 ... Became the youngest Timbers player to score an MLS goal at 19 years, 8 months and 27 days.

INTERNATIONAL: Played in the Lisbon International Tourna­ment with the U.S. U-18 National Team and was a member of the U-20 National Team pool in 2010.

COLLEGE: Was named the Big East Conference Defen­sive Player of the Year after starting in each of the 25 matches he played in during his sophomore season in 2011 … Anchored UConn’s defense that allowed just 10 goals and recorded a program-record 16 shutouts ... Recorded two goals and one assist, while earning All-BIG EAST Conference first-team and NSCAA All-Northeast Region first-team honors … Garnered Soccer America second-team MVP Honors ...
