Timbers acquire Jordan on loan from Galaxy


Jordan joined the team on Wed. for training at PGE Park. He'll be on loan from the Galaxy for Thursday's home match.
PORTLAND, Ore.The Portland Timbers announced today the club has acquired forward Bryan Jordan on loan from Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy. Jordan will be in uniform for the Timbers’ home match on Thursday against the Minnesota Thunder pending United Soccer Leagues approval.
 
Additionally, goalkeeper Ray Burse has been recalled by MLS’s FC Dallas and will miss both of the Timbers’ matches this week.
 
The Timbers play host to the Thunder on Thursday at PGE Park at 7 p.m., before hitting the road once again for a match on Saturday against the Vancouver Whitecaps.  
 
Jordan, 22, has played in one match with the Galaxy this season since being transferred from the Timbers in March. He has tallied a league-leading three goals in four Reserve Division matches for Los Angeles and was recently called up by the U.S. U-23 National Team for a tournament in Toulon, France.
 
Last season, Jordan appeared in 26 matches and recorded five goals and an assist as a rookie to finish among the Timbers leading scorers.
 
Burse, who is on loan to the Timbers this season from FC Dallas, has been recalled by the MLS side for the team’s regular-season match against the New England Revolution on Friday. In his 2008 MLS debut on Sunday, Burse and FC Dallas suffered a 2-1 loss at the Colorado Rapids. He has a MLS career record of 3-3-1.
 
In 10 games with the Timbers this season, Burse, 23, has a 4-2-4 record and leads the USL First Division with six shutouts. He also ranks among league leaders in saves (39), wins (4) and goal-against average (0.60). Burse was acquired on loan by the Timbers on April 7.
 
GUANTE NAMED TO USL FIRST DIVISION TEAM OF THE WEEK
United Soccer Leagues announced Tuesday that Timbers midfielder Miguel Guante was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 7. Guante aided in the team's road win over the Montreal Impact as part of a two-game road trip over the weekend.
