Burse recalled by FC Dallas for MLS match Sunday

Burse will rejoin the Timbers early next week as the team continues a stretch of seven matches in 16 days.
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers today announced that goalkeeper Ray Burse, who is on loan for the 2008 season, has been recalled by Major League Soccer's FC Dallas for the team's regular-season match against the Colorado Rapids today at 12 noon (Pacific) in Denver, Colo.

Goalkeeper Dario Salas, who has started all 10 games for FC Dallas this season, was placed on the injured list with a right hip injury.

Burse, who collected seven saves on Friday in a 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact, has played in each of the Timbers first 10 matches this season compiling a 4-2-4 record and leads all USL First Division goalkeepers with six shutouts. He also ranks among league leaders in wins (4), fewest goals allowed (6), saves (39) and goals-against average (0.60).

He is expected to rejoin Portland next week as the Timbers continue a stretch of seven matches in 16 days.

With FC Dallas this season, Burse, 23, has appeared in two Reserve Division matches posting a 1-1-0 record and one shutout. He has also been available for selection in five of FC Dallas' 10 regular-season matches. Selected by FC Dallas in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, Burse made his first MLS start last season against the Rapids on Aug. 4.

A native of Prospect, Ky., Burse was loaned to the Timbers for the 2008 USL First Division season on April 7.
