Timbers, Beavers announce 25-game TV package

PORTLAND, Ore. – PGE Park and FSN announced today a new multi-year agreement to broadcast Portland Beavers baseball games and Portland Timbers soccer matches exclusively throughout the Northwest. The agreement is the largest in the history of both teams and includes FSN delivering a total of 20 Beavers baseball games and five Timbers soccer matches per season throughout the network’s five-state region.

“Not only does this agreement expand our relationship with PGE Park, but it expands FSN’s summer live event schedule and provides compelling programming to support the additional Seattle Mariners games on our network in 2008,” explained Mark Shuken, senior vice president/general manager for FSN Northwest. “Both teams have an extremely passionate fan base, and we look forward to not only enhancing coverage for local fans, but showcasing them to the entire Northwest.”

The new agreement is a significant increase to the partnership between FSN and PGE Park, which has included a package of two games per season the past two years.

“This partnership provides the Beavers and Timbers with an exceptional platform to illustrate the quality of our teams and our fan experience to a broader audience,” said Merritt Paulson, president of the Beavers and Timbers. “FSN has been a terrific partner for us in the past, and I am delighted to be expanding our relationship.”

The Portland Beavers baseball club is the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres and a member of the Pacific Coast League, and the Portland Timbers are members of the United Soccer Leagues First Division. Both teams play at PGE Park, a 19,566-seat, multipurpose stadium located in downtown Portland.

FSN Northwest is the cable home of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle SuperSonics, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Storm, Portland Beavers, Portland Timbers, Washington Huskies, Washington State Cougars, Oregon State Beavers and Gonzaga Bulldogs. The region reaches more than 3.4 million homes in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. FSN reaches more than 82 million homes through its 20 regional sports channels, and serves as the only supplier of national, regional and local sports programming.
