Video News: In the Mix with Brad Knighton
Goalkeeper Brad Knighton was thrown head first into the Timbers' busy schedule when he arrived on loan from the New England Revolution earlier this month. The new net minder took a moment to talk about his transition to Portland and the Tigres exhibition in Video News.
Knighton, 23, has played in a total of three matches with the Timbers - two exhibition and one league match - since being loaned from the Revolution of Major League Soccer on July 2. He made his Timbers regular-season debut on July 10 in a 2-0 loss to the Puerto Rico Islanders at PGE Park.
A second-year pro, Knighton has not made an appearance with New England, but has a career mark of 2-4-0 in the MLS Reserve Division with a 1.33 goals-against average. The Richmond, Va., native signed with New England as a free agent out of UNC-Wilmington prior to the 2007 season.
Knighton and the Timbers face top Mexican club U.A.N.L. Tigres in a special exhibition match on Tuesday at PGE Park presented by The Oregonian. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phoning (503) 224-4400.
