Timbers partner with 'Habitat for Humanity'
BEAVERTON, Ore. – Ten members of the Portland Timbers and several front office staffers broke out the shovels, hammers and saws Wednesday to help build a house for Habitat for Humanity.
Included among the volunteers were: Lee Morrison, Scott Benedetti, Brian Winters, Garrett Marcum, Erik Cronkrite, Bayard Elfvin, Josh Saunders, Shawn Saunders, Jarrod Weis and Jake Sagare.
The house is one of five to be built on SW Metz in Beaverton by Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing worldwide by building affordable housing in partnership with low-income housing candidates, volunteers, donors and organizations.
By 2005, the organization will have completed its 200,000th house, worldwide.
