Beavers and Timbers Camp Scholarships
Every summer the Beavers and Timbers host several baseball and soccer camps to help teach area youth all the latest baseball and soccer techniques.  Camp participants receive professional instruction from players and coaches in a fun and educational environment, as well as a camp t-shirt and a ticket to a designated home game.  This year, PGE Park corporate partners, American Family Insurance and esurance both sponsored 59 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area so that they could take part in the camps free of charge.

Free Beavers and Timbers Camps Presented by Cricket Wireless
In a continuing effort to increase youth interest and participation in soccer within the Portland area, the Timbers partnered with Cricket Wireless and Portland Parks & Recreation to host a free instructional clinic this summer. The Timbers soccer clinic was held at Columbia Park in NE Portland. Interested participants had to sign up through Portland Parks & Recreation, but the clinic was held free of charge and each camper got the opportunity to learn skills from select Timbers players and received free t-shirts and other team memorabilia. For more information on Portland Parks & Recreation, visit their website at www.portlandparks.org.

Teddy Bear Toss
Started in 2006, the Timbers Teddy Bear Toss has collected almost 12,000 stuffed animals for the children at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. During the Timbers match on June 19, fans were encouraged to bring teddy bears and stuffed animals for donation to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Following the Timbers’ first goal of the match, fans were instructed to throw their stuffed animals onto the pitch. This year, over 10,000 stuffed animals were collected and personally delivered by players to patients at Doernbecher.

Timbers G.O.A.L. Assembly Program
The Portland Timbers take pride in being a part of the greater Portland community and understand that much of their success comes from the support of their fans. In a continuing effort to give back, the team sponsors educational assemblies that aim to inspire and teach students about the importance of positive goal setting. The G.O.A.L. Assembly program stands for Goals, Outcomes, Achievement and Learning and is sponsored by US Bank. Through the sharing of personal stories, the Timbers hope to encourage students to be the best people they can be.

Video Wall Messages
Those wishing to post a message on the PGE Park video wall during a Beavers or Timbers game were asked to please contribute a $25 donation, which was earmarked for the Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers Community Fund (PBPTCF), which will help to assist with one of the many grants we will make back into the community. $1,900 was raised in 2009 for the PBPTCF.

Awareness Nights
Several non-profit groups partnered with the Beavers or Timbers to hold awareness nights at games during the 2009 season. Each participating organization was offered a discounted rate on tickets for their supporters, volunteers and clients to their designated game. Organizations hosting an awareness night had the opportunity to set up an informational booth in the PGE Park concourse to distribute information and spread the word about their cause. In addition, groups participated in several in-game activities and utilized the event as a way to recognize and honor any outstanding individuals who had made a significant impact.

Beavers and Timbers Fundraising Program
The Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers offer a fundraising opportunity to help nonprofit organizations raise needed funds for their programs.  Groups can sell undated tickets for Beavers and Timbers regular season games, keeping a portion of the proceeds earned for their organization.  In 2009, we partnered with over 85 nonprofit organizations including youth baseball, softball, soccer and various other non profits. Together they sold over 40,000 tickets and raised over $220,000 by participating in the Portland Beavers and Timbers Fundraising Program.
