Community Partners
Each season, players, staff and management make a positive impact on community values and individual lives by lending their time, energy and creativity to a number of philanthropic programs.
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
In 2006, the Timbers started the annual “Teddy Bear Toss”, donating hundreds of stuffed teddy bears and animals to the patients and families at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The stuffed animals, thrown onto the field by fans during a regular-season match, are then specially given to each child by Timbers players, coaches and front-office staff.

Boys & Girls Club
Timbers players annually visit with kids at Boys & Girls Club branches in the greater Portland area, taking part in recreational activities as well as talking about health and the importance of education. In 2006, the Timbers continued their commitment to raise money for the organization and partnered on Sports Mania Weekend, a major fund-raising event that included a weekend of golf and other outdoor activities with notable athletes.

Muscular Dystrophy Association
The Timbers have proudly supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the annual “Jersey Off Our Backs” event. Both the Timbers and fans have raised money by auctioning off game-worn jerseys during the regular-season finale. The Timbers also donate the time of players and coaches to help with the MDA’s annual telethon; the team also invites two MDA VIP kids to attend a Timbers practice session at PGE Park.

Portland Parks & Recreation
The Portland Beavers and Portland Parks & Recreation partner in several ways throughout the season including hosting free camps, fundraising, and supporting each others community programs. This season Cricket Wireless and the Portland Timbers were able to help Portland Parks & Recreation raise over $3000 through a pre-season exhibition match in April.

Schoolhouse Supplies
The Timbers annually host a back-to-school supplies drive, featuring collection barrels at PGE Park and actively promoting the important services provided by Schoolhouse Supplies. Along with the Portland Beavers, the Timbers have adopted Jason Lee Elementary School in Portland, providing backpacks filled with supplies to each student during the first week of the school year.

Special Olympics
For the past few seasons, the Timbers have actively supported the Special Olympics Fall Festival Games. Whether speaking at the opening ceremony or assisting during awards presentations, both players and coaches have the privilege of being a part of Special Olympics activities.

Concourse Mural Project
Quickly becoming a popular tradition at PGE Park, the concourse mural project was created in 2005. The team selects close to a dozen area elementary and middle school classes to paint colorful banners for display at the park during the season. The students are presented with an interpretive theme, and the paint and supplies are generously donated by local businesses.
