Community Partners
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
In 2006, the Timbers started the annual “Teddy Bear Toss”, donating hundreds of stuffed teddy bears and animals to the patients and families at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The stuffed animals, thrown onto the field by fans during a regular-season match, are then specially given to each child by Timbers players, coaches and front-office staff. In 2009, more than 10,000 teddy bears were collected and distributed to the patients at Doernbecher. www.ohsudoernbecher.com

Along with the Portland Beavers and Cooks Security Group, the Timbers have adopted Jason Lee Elementary School in Portland, providing backpacks filled with supplies to each student during the first week of the school year. www.schoolhousesupplies.org
Special Olympics
For the past few seasons, the Timbers have actively supported the Special Olympics Fall Festival Games. Whether speaking at the opening ceremony or assisting during awards presentations, both players and coaches have the privilege of being a part of Special Olympics activities.

Concourse Mural Project
Quickly becoming a popular tradition at PGE Park, the concourse mural project was created in 2005. The team selects close to a dozen area elementary and middle school classes to paint colorful banners for display at the park during the season. The students are presented with an interpretive theme, and the paint and supplies are generously donated by local businesses.
