The Portland Timbers Food Cart Alliance (PTFCA) is a free, cross-promotional program designed to highlight the Rose City’s vibrant food cart culture. Through the PTFCA, select Portland-area food carts will have the opportunity to serve their food cart fare on Timbers and Thorns FC match days at JELD-WEN Field via fan vote.

Now’s your chance to choose the next round of carts that will serve at the stadium this season. Choose carefully, the five carts that receive the most votes on this poll will serve at three JELD-WEN Field events!

The ever popular Portland Timbers Food Cart Alliance (PTFCA) makes its return this Sunday as the Portland Timbers kick-off the 2013 MLS season against the New York Red Bulls (Mar. 3, 4:30pm PT, ESPN2, 750AM The Game). Begun last year, the PTFCA invites Portland-area food carts to take over the Soccer City Grill in the southeast corner of JELD-WEN Field just above Section 93. Last season saw delicious Hawaiian food, fish & chips, and a whole slew of mouthwatering goodness. This season the carts return and will be at every Timbers and Thorns match throughout the 2013 season.

Following a fan vote in the offseason, the first set of carts are locked in. See the schedule here and keep an eye out for the next fan vote in April.

The first food cart for 2013 is an apt one: Timber’s Doghouse PDX. Timber’s Doghouse is serving a variety of its signature tot bowls made with gourmet seasoned tatter tots with classic toppings such as bacon, grilled onions, and cheddar cheese. And yes, it is run by a person who's real name is Timber, Timber Adamson to be exact. She had this to say about her cart and it's presence at JELD-WEN Field:

"My dream to own a food cart began during my time in culinary school. I knew I wanted to work on my own but did not want the debt of a large restaurant. This was back before people really knew anything about food carts. There was just 2 carts downtown at 9th & Alder.

I love making people delicious food and seeing them enjoy it. Simple as that. Working as an executive chef in fine dining had its creative culinary moments, but there was a disconnect between the food and the experience  As a food cart owner, I have the freedom to be creative as well as the joy of interacting with my patrons.

I'm eagerly anticipating my first Timbers game! Although hearing 20,000 fans chant my name could be odd."

So all submissions are in and tomorrow we'll know the winner. Last month, over 150 different pizza combinations were submitted for the Papa Murphy's Lumberjack Pizza Contest. At stake was not only having the winning recipe as a featured special pizza in Papa Murphy stores beginning on June 24th, but the winner also receives 1 free Papa Murphy's pizza a month for a year, a team autographed replica jersey, AND have their very own pizza party at JELD-WEN Field with one of the Timbers players stopping by.

Moreover, Papa Murphy's will donate $1 of every Lumberjack Pizza sold (up to $2,500) to be shared by the Portland Timbers Community Fund and the Children's Cancer Association.

The key will be just what flavor tickles the judges' palates. The esteemed panel?  Midfielder Eric Alexander, Timber Joey, Erik Keating (107ist and Timbers Army member) and Jerry Kenney (Papa Murphy’s Portland Co-op President)--all of whom will be at the Papa Murphy's on 2609 SE 122nd Avenue at 3:00 p.m. on Friday June 8 to make their final decision.

So come out to Papa Murphy's, meet Eric, Timber Joey, get some autographs, and grab a slice. Free samples of the winning pizza will be available to try out!

Two second-half goals, first by Timbers forward Kris Boyd and then from Whitecaps striker Darren Mattocks, led to a 1-1 draw between the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps on an evening that had it all: intense rain, hail and lightning, not to mention an action-packed final 45 minutes.

The image is made up of 570 individual images taken throughout the first half and stitched together to form one large image. The final high resolution picture is 118,188 X 49,694 pixels or 5.8 gigapixels.
